**Objective of ITI Rating**

The ITI Star Rating achieves the objective of giving the prospective students an insight into the available opportunities at an ITI before joining them and allows comparison across ITIs. This would enable aspirants to make an informed decision when choosing ITIs during admission. It also provides the ITIs with an objective rating which can be used as an indicator of scope for improvement. Currently, 155 Government ITIs which had students graduating in 2018 have been rated.

**Rating parameters**

To create a student-centric ITI rating, the department has identified parameters which are outcome based and relevant to prospective students. The parameters have been bucketed into 3 categories.

**How are ratings calculated for parameters?**

The overall rating is out of 10 stars and is calculated as a sum of the star rating of the following categories:

**1. Career Advancement: **Maximum number of stars achievable for this category is 4. The sum product of the number of students going for each category of career advancement and its weightage is divided by the total number of students to arrive at the Career Advancement Score (maximum 5). The weightage of the parameters is as follows:

The data for career advancement has been collected from the department ERP as provided by ITI principals. The rating is available only for the ITIs who have provide data for at least 30% of students who have graduated in 2018.

**2. Quality of Training:** Maximum number of stars achievable for this category is 3. Each of the parameter values is converted to a score using a scale as follows:

The sum product of parameter score and its weightage is divided by 10 to arrive at the Quality of Training Score (maximum 5). The weightage of the parameters is as follows:

The data for Pass Rate and Trainees with Distinction has been obtained from NCVT and SCVT. The Trainer Availability data has been obtained from the ITIs through a survey and from the Departmental database.

**3. Industrial Exposure:** Maximum number of stars achievable for this category is 3. Each of the parameter values is converted to a score using a scale as follows:

The sum product of parameter score and its weightage is divided by 15 to arrive at the Industrial Exposure Score (maximum 5). The weightage of the parameters is as follows:

The data has been sourced through a form from the ITIs about industry partnerships (Flexi MoUs) and the DST MoUs signed by them.
